The American Legion is a patriotic war-time veterans organization that was chartered by Congress in 1919. Devoted to mutual helpfulness, the American Legion is a not-for-profit community-service organization with over 3 million men and women members at over 15,000 American Legion posts worldwide.

American Legion Post 77 located in the beautiful Gulf Coast community of Houston, Texas is proud to hold one of the 15,000 American Legion post charters. The American Legion Post 77 was first chartered in 1938 as the John Robbins Burkett Post 77. Post 77 was re-chartered in 1948 as the John Robbins Burkett-Beverly E. Miller Post 77. American Legion Post 77, located in Houston, TX, is the post home to Presidents. Post 77 is proud to serve as the post home to President George Herbert Walker Bush and President George Walker Bush.
